A week before the last U.S. soldiers left his country in December 2011, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki traveled to Washington to meet the team that would help shape Iraq’s future once the troops and tanks were gone.
Over dinner at the Blair House, guest quarters for elite White House visitors since the 1940s, the dour Iraqi sipped tea while Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton spoke of how her department’s civilian experts could help Iraqis avoid a return to terrorism and sectarian bloodshed.
Iraq would see a “robust civilian presence,” Clinton told reporters afterward, summing up the Obama administration’s pledges to Maliki. “We are working to achieve that,” she said.
Less than three years later, the relatively calm Iraq that Maliki had led in 2011 was gone. The country’s government was in crisis, its U.S.-trained army humiliated, and a third of its territory overrun by fighters from the Islamic State. Meanwhile, State Department programs aimed at helping Iraqis prevent such an outcome had been slashed or curtailed, and some had never materialized at all.

An obvious rope-a-dope strategy. Hillary is not running for office. Somebody else is through Hillary.
Trumps fight is all energy, constant rabid punches and uppercuts. My fear is the DNC is conserving energy and is going to try and give Trump a very bad week right before the election.
They will have to cheat.
The article is slanted to be pro Clinton. It tries to paint Clinton in a favorable light.
But Clinton's failures and bad decisions were so obvious there is only so much spinning they can do.
Ignore the pro Clinton bias. But there are is a good narrative in the article about Clinton and Obama causing ISIS to rise up.

I see that. I did ignore the pro-madam bits. They did cause isis. This article really shows it to me.

In summary, all supports to Iraqi security were gutted, and Iraq was thrown to the wolves during Clinton’s tenure (when Department of State took over the mission from DoD) - but it was the fault of everyone else, except Hillary.
That is yet to come. Right now it is rope-a-dope like the GOPe we're for national security and were with her "fifty."
To be brutally honest, we failed from the time Paul Bremer stepped on to Iraqi soil with his pallets of cash.
