We tolerate all kinds of other sinners without demanding their deaths. Love the sinner,hate the sin. Which means not celebrating homosexuality,adultery,thievery,gluttony,etc. but having policies that discourage destructive behavior.

That said, there is a very great difference between tolerating a thing and deciding that death is too severe a punishment for a given crime.
