I understand that, but when he gets himself involved in the election discussion he takes a position regarding the server imbroglio. That is or was part of his work - how to protect US secrets. He MUST be forced to state his position regarding that issue.
That's pretty easy. Take the same position Comey did. It was extremely careless, then beg off on the law side, since his function is just keeping secrets, not prosecuting crimes.
I'm not saying that's the position he'd take if asked. It'll be interesting to see if he is asked.
