It’s almost the ONLY reason to investigate: to spare them the perils of commenting.
Then when the investigation is over, it’s either too ancient to deserve a comment, or it’s settled law.
They are not accountable to the sheep and this is accepted by the sheep, who wouldn’t know what to do with the truth anyway.
