I think he would have made it and much faster if he hadn’t had those big balls dragging him down.
It’s sad that this whole thing would have been far less anxiety-producing and more entertaining in the years before 9/11. But today, officials really couldn’t take a chance on whatever was in his backpack. What if there was an explosive, and he would have broken a window near the top of the atrium and thrown it inside the huge lobby full of tourists, rubberneckers, shoppers and diners?
So, they had to stop traffic on 5th Avenue and the cross street, have a copter overhead, call out the fire department and the rescue negotiators, etc. He probably cost the city and the workers who lost time at least a million.
