The daredevil climber who attempted to scale Trump Tower on Wednesday is a 20-year-old man who traveled to Manhattan from Virginia and staged his stunt in the hopes of winning a meeting with Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, police said...
He was taken to Bellevue hospital in Manhattan for a psychiatric evaluation, and it was not yet clear what charges he might face for his high-rise high jinks....
The Spider-Man-like escapade began around 4 p.m., as the candidate was holding a rally in Virginia....
he climber’s ascent ended abruptly around 7 p.m., when emergency responders were able to yank him in through a 21st-floor window of the glass skyscraper after a harrowing two-hour negotiation. He had been hoisting himself slowly up the glass facade using giant, hand-held suction cups...

The guy went from Virginia to Trump Tower to see Trump when Trump was at a rally in Virginia.

It’s sad that this whole thing would have been far less anxiety-producing and more entertaining in the years before 9/11. But today, officials really couldn’t take a chance on whatever was in his backpack. What if there was an explosive, and he would have broken a window near the top of the atrium and thrown it inside the huge lobby full of tourists, rubberneckers, shoppers and diners?
So, they had to stop traffic on 5th Avenue and the cross street, have a copter overhead, call out the fire department and the rescue negotiators, etc. He probably cost the city and the workers who lost time at least a million.
I know, right? The optics would have been much better!
You are right. On the one hand it was too overt of a move to be a terrorist attack. On the other hand it was too overt of a move not to be a terrorist attack.
The guy should’ve checked Trump’s campaign webpage...
I turned on CNN just seconds after they got the guy. When I saw the replay, I was frightened for the police officers, and the man; the one cop was holding his partner, who was trying to unhook the climber from the suction cups, by his belt buckle!
It really looked like they would all tumble out of the window.
The officers were quite brave.
Oh, and from what I understand, and what I told my kids, it was almost like a Super Mario thing; the guy kept moving sideways and up and down, trying to evade the police as they broke through ventilation ducts to try to get to him. I didn’t see it, though.
He certainly endangered the lives of those officers and maybe even people on the ground.
I saw that Youtube video; he’s wearing a hoodie to conceal his face, because he said he didn’t want his identity known. But you can see most of his face! LOL! His eyes, nose and mouth!
And then someone took pictures of him from inside the Trump Tower; you can see his face as clear as day.
Trump had better get his Property Management folks to clean those Brass Lights. They are filthy.
I took a nap and woke up, turned on the tv and was at the last 20 min of it all.
So, there I am bleary eyed and there’s this close-up of this guy on the 20th story outside Trump Tower with suction cups holding him up and the police removing those big windows.
Felt like I was dreaming, but then I remembered...this is NYC.

I don't think we have, but I think he's going to have a tougher time getting this crucial piece of information to Mr. Trump at this point. LOL! :)
Seriously, though, I think he is getting a psychiatric evaluation.
I think it is great. you put a net under him rope off the sidewalk. nothing different from when the window washers are out. and let him go. no risk to anyone but the guy climbing the building. In the old days they were called daredevils and they had a place in our culture. a guy jumped out of a plane without a parachute into a net last week. have at it. no let’s try to head him off. stop the plane on the runway. fly up and try to catch him on the way down to save his life or something. jump in a barrel and go over the Niagara. jump in a boat and sail around the world.
He told police he was a independent ‘investigator’ and he had information that was important to Trump, that he didn’t want to hurt Trump, he just wanted to get his attention so Trump would talk to him. Or something like that.
I’m guessing it has something to do with aliens, of the little green type.
