One of the 10 or 15,000 Donald Trump subdramas heading into the fall is the question of whether the Republican presidential nominee will participate in all three scheduled debates. It's usually taken for granted that major-party candidates will agree to the Commission on Presidential Debates' schedule, but there’s no law requiring it, and Trump has never seen a political norm he hasn't considered razing and building something gaudy over. And over the past couple of weeks, he’s laid the groundwork for not participating in the debates by suggesting that they are, in some nebulous way, a trap he can't agree to until he's carefully combed through the conditions.
Don’t be fooled. He's going to do them. Well, at least he'll do one of them, and see how much he likes it. What he first needs is some face-saving adjustment to the schedule, the debate rules, the debate hall, or whatever. It doesn't matter what it is, and it doesn't even have to be an alteration that's tactically advantageous. The whole point of his debate moaning is just to act as another dominance play to demonstrate his ability to wield leverage in negotiating a deal.

If he can’t negotiate one of his masterful deals, he has a ready-made excuse for a poor performance when he participates anyway: It was rigged all along, just like the whole election is.

I'm not completely convinced that she's even going to be the Democrat candidate by the time for the first debate rolls around.
I would insist on no ear-pieces, and if I were Trump, I’d put some sort of short-wave jammer in my pocket to keep her from being spoon fed answers, and of course no bringing in notes or talking points. Let them bring in blank paper and pen to take notes, nothing else.
Not that DNC won’t have the questions ahead of time, in fact they will WRITE the debate questions.
And, like in years past, they will be framed as such “now we know that Planned Parenthood is supported by 99% of all Americans, and they only perform abortions when absolutely necessary, why is that you want to destroy such a beloved, well-intentioned benevolent institution putting hundreds of millions of women in dire jeopardy of getting breast cancer?”
The difference is, most Republicans in past would have stood there slack jawed, and AGREED with the question before answering it.
I don’t think Trump will have any of that, and will have little problem correcting on the spot any moderator bias.

There was a different Hillary surrogate on Fox this week who kept using the phrase “if Trump is man enough” to debate Hillary - I guess their marching orders this week are to get under his skin and make sure he shows up for a few rigged debates.
Why are these pieces of journalistic filth being posted here on FR? Slate and Salon are so far left they only place they should be seen is DU.
