Only the liberal, hateful, Left and their propaganda media have taken this causal remark about political power of the NRA and gun population and twisted it to mean Trump wants Hillary assassinated. Yeah, right.
Not only has Trump denied that's what he meant but why would any sane individual infer such a violent approach by Trump, who is not a violent man nor encourages it?

It’s been interesting on FB. The raving lunatic libs (but I repeat myself) who you would guess would make an issue out of the NRA statements have done so... but the majority of the people in my sphere are taking it as you said... a vote en masse against anything to denigrate the 2nd A. Even people who were, IMO, marginally left have stated what a big piece of outrage cr@p this is.
