I’ve never been to a game with the pledge or a prayer. One catholic college did a prayer in the locker room, but never on the field.

That would make people squirm in New England.

It’s really funny how quiet the stadium gets during the prayer. Since it’s track and field most of the competitors and their parents are Black and my can those momma’s yell at their kiddos! Discipline reigns supreme though. No kids running around, no underwear showing and all of the kids are very polite or they get a cuff up the side of the head. One of my grandson’s coach won a Gold medal years ago and another competed all four years in college and is a Baptist minister so lots of praying going on.

One of our local high schools had scripture verses on banner which players ran through at beginning of game. Someone complained, it went to court and the Judge ruled the scriptures can continue. We are really big on Friday night football down here.

Still some bastions of morality in Texas, particularly in the suburbs - not so much in the big cities.
