I have a brother in law on the Fort Worth police department.
In 2013 he said outright that if ordered to go door to door rounding up citizens for no other reason than that they were military veterans, he would do so.

Law enforcement is an extremely mixed bag.

The people in military and paramilitary organizations are conditioned to follow orders. And when given orders, they will obey. The Milgram experiment and the Nazi experience proved that.
