Not familiar with the area, but in most high profile tourist areas, $600 grand buys you a lakefront porta potty.

It is a seasonal home on a lake which has water warm enough to swim in for four months out of the year, tops. My guess is that it is 3-4 bedrooms, maybe around 3000 square feet. Spacious enough, but not grand.
One can easily check comparables by going to a site such as Zillow.com and typing in North Hero, VT.
Were I in his situation, I do know that I would not be putting my entire net worth toward a short seasonal vacation home unless I came into some very serious money recently.

North Hero is not the Hamptons. You can do very nicely there with 600,000. The problem is not what he chooses to do with him money, but what he tells other people to do with theirs.

You’re right about the porta potty. Prices for Texas lakefront are ridiculous.
