Mental health advocate and former Rep. Patrick Kennedy made a plea in the Washington Post urging people to stop calling Donald Trump 'crazy.'
The son of the late Sen. Ted Kennedy started his op-ed by detailing a number of names the Republican nominee has been called: 'crazy,' 'psychopath,' not 'sane,' having a 'screw lose' and suffering from 'narcissistic personality disorder' – none of which are actually diagnosed.
'With all of this damaging rhetoric floating around in our national political discourse, especially what we hear from and about Trump, it’s no wonder that people remain silent and the suffering continues,' Kennedy argued.(snip)
'And believe me, I'm no Trump fan,' he said. 'There's a lot to criticize about the policies, ideas and ideology of the Republican nominee.'
'As a person, he lashes out with unnecessary cruelty, and his policies would drive our country into a lengthy recession,' Kennedy added, suggesting putting the Republican nominee in the White House would cost the country 3.5 million jobs.
'We can reject Trump without resorting to making baseless diagnoses of his mental health,' Kennedy argued.
