Security Guard at Tukwila Islamic Center Stabbed in the Back; Suspect in Custody

TUKWILA, Wash. -- Tukwila police are investigating after a fight at a mosque escalated into a stabbing late Sunday night.

It happened at the Abu Bakr Islamic Center at 14101 Tukwila International Boulevard just after 8:30 p.m.

Police said a 26-year-old Somali man was trespassing on the mosque's basketball courts. The security guard asked him to leave, but he refused.

The security guard ended up getting stabbed and is in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A radio report this morning said the suspect was a member of the mosque. Now the story just says he was a trespasser. No other local news is covering the story.

They also seem to have cornered the crime "market", going by their small numbers in this country.

I worked at boeing at a building a couple of blocks east of Southcenter, but I think it’s called Westfield Mall or something like that now. The area has become trashed by kids that get there by bus and loiter.

That’s a shame. I worked at a company in the mall, and it was a nice place at the time, but Tukwila’s demographics were heading in the wrong direction and I guess finally tipped over.
