New Jersey would be one of only three states to have a law banning drivers from doing such things as drinking coffee, eating, or grooming themselves.

If I wasn’t retired . . . at that rate . . . it would take about three hours to get to work - I buy the BIG cup!

Drinking hot coffee while driving should be on the drivers test

It is already the law in some communities around the country.

I used to drive I 95 Miami to Laud as a tech in a van.
One day I looked over and a woman was driving and reaching back and spoon feeding her kid in the car seat.

There out there!
Endangering the kid herself and all others.

I didn’t believe it at first and then I saw that this was in New Jersey. I totally believed it then.

That state is absolutely horrible for all of it’s nanny government meddling.

But... you know what? It’s up to the citizens and tax-payers of New Jersey to clean up their mess. Just don’t be moving to other states and bring that mentality along with them.

WTF...?!

How is this legal?

If it’s “dangerous” to drink coffee while driving, how about drinking Coke? What if I take a bite of a cheeseburger? Is the fine doubled for a double cheeseburger?

New Jersey is an embarrassment to America, as usual.

If they think #BLM is unfriendly to cops, just wait until they have to deal with drivers that haven’t had their shot of expresso yet. That alone will teach them it is a bad law.

New York drivers? Puh-lease! They hate everybody even after a bucket or two of caffeine.

Is it drinking the coffee or just having an ‘open container’?

Would this outlaw ordering coffee or food at a drive-thru? Maybe Mickey D’s would need drive-thru customers to sign a waiver stating they won’t consume any purchases until they are safely home?

“What about the automakers with their multifunction displays?”

No kidding. I yearn for the days when adjusting the heater meant moving a couple slide controls or turning a knob. Same with the radio, turn a couple knobs and punch some buttons.

My point is, back then you did not need to take your eyes off the road. Now it’s microscopic little multi function buttons with each manufacturer having totally different arrangements.

‘open container’?

Must be beyond reach in a locked box.
