Donald Trump Set to Endorse Paul Ryan in Wisconsin

Donald Trump is set to endorse House Speaker Paul Ryan (Wis.) during a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Friday evening, Fox News reported.

The expected endorsement comes three days after Trump told the Washington Post he was not “yet” ready to back Ryan in his upcoming primary election next Tuesday against Wisconsin businessman Paul Nehlen.

While Trump publicly praised Nehlen for running “a very good campaign” earlier this week, Ryan is expected to win the primary by a landslide. The House speaker leads Nehlen by 66 points, according to a poll released Friday by the Remington Research Group.

Trump declined to endorse Ryan on Tuesday despite his running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, throwing his weight behind the Wisconsin congressman earlier in the day.

“I like Paul, but these are horrible times for our country,” Trump told the Washington Post. “We need very strong leadership. We need very, very strong leadership. And I’m just not quite there yet.”

When CNN asked Ryan in May whether he would endorse the business mogul’s presidential bid, the House speaker replied that he was “just not ready to do that at this point,” although he later did announce his formal endorsement of Trump.

Ryan warned Thursday that his endorsement of Trump was “not a blank check” amid concerns in the Republican Party that the GOP nominee is making too many unforced errors rather than focusing his attacks on Hillary Clinton’s weaknesses.

Did you see Trump in Iowa

Watched some of it, found it disappointing...or as Trump might himself say..."low energy".

After the bucket of sh t poured on him this past week by a caught-red-handed-in-collusion media I was expecting a full counter-assault, in particular by exposing the MSM attempt to change the subject using these nothing-burger attacks on him and his character. Didn't really happen, other than his usual campaign talking points about the "dishonest media". I think I even heard him say something to the effect of "even if you don't like me, vote for Mike Pence"...jokingly or not...really???

Look, any Republican is going to be bashed by media, that's a given, and no doubt this is an unprecedented election in that Trump has a multi-fronted assault against him...including the elites in his own party trying to sabotage his campaign. I think he was smart enough going in that he knew he was going to have this disadvantage.

...but he still took his case to the people, with tons of energy and little fear of what his detractors think/feel/write about him, it's why he got even despondent, non-voting types to join in, by offering a REAL anti-pc "hope and change" to return America to its greatness.

...didn't see that fire in him today.

He's gonna need to find it again, even ratchet it up a notch. This isn't a reality show, THIS IS WAR, and this particular election, it's not only the lives of real people at risk, but the life of the nation as well.

The 'rat party and their enablers in the media have shown themselves to be lying, conniving, corrupt garbage cans. The emails are the proof that has put them in front of even the most brain-washed jury, all it takes is the right prosecutor to put them away.

Victory is there for the taking...no time to sulk, hit'em where it hurts, and don't let up...until victory is assured.

(heh...and them hit'em even harder)

Me too!

But sadly, most people need to be led by the nose....

Sorry to rant at you. I was just frustrated. Watching Hillary’s speech this earlier just made me that more worked up over all this.

That reminds me of when Obama first won and all the talking heads wanted him to take over immediately. No point waiting until January. It’s as though they never read the Constitution.

Trump needs them to be competitive in Wisconsin. They do NOT need Trump.

Trump must endorse Ryan in Wisconsin to have any chance at winning Wisconsin himself in the general.

Only a few short months ago, you would be called all sorts of vile comments for such sacrilege...

Your post is spot on...

I don’t see how Trump can endorse Ryan. He just now spoke out against politics as usual. Is this a set up?

Well, if Nehlen gets elected .. then it won’t matter.

As it is, Trump now has Ryan committed to NOT throw Trump under the bus .. and if Trump finds out that Ryan is stabbing him in the back .. Ryan will be between a rock and hard place.

I think that’s why Trump’s doing it.

Anyway; that’s my reasoning. The GOP thinks it’s for unity, but I think what I wrote above.

Nehlen has no chance in this primary. None.

Sorry, there is no evidence Paul Ryan wishes to win Wisconsin in November.

Do you have any evidence to the contrary...?

Is your point Ryan needs Trump to win his seat in Wisconsin ?

LOL....That's delusional...

// Trump must endorse Ryan in Wisconsin to have any chance at winning Wisconsin himself in the general.

All the idiots suggesting otherwise on FR have no clue about how Wisconsin works. //

I was hoping he’d just keep quiet, endorse the winner. I’m disappointed, I thought Nehlen was doing better - appreciate your input.

I’m not saying I like it either. But reality is reality. Better to face it and deal with it pragmatically than to deny it and get crushed.

“Paul Ryan is expected to dominate in his primary election on Tuesday even without the endorsement of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

A Remington Research Group poll released Friday shows 80 percent of voters support Ryan in his Wisconsin primary, compared to 14 percent who back challenger Paul Nehlen, a conservative Trump supporter.
Trump declined this week to endorse Ryan and earlier praised Nehlen for his support.

Nehlen had said that Ryan misunderstands Trump’s immigration proposals, which would temporarily ban those from certain countries with terrorist activity from coming into the United States.”

That Remington Polling firm uses some strange -and cheap -”interactive voice mail” polling system. I know just enough about polls to disregard that one!

I could be wrong but I have a feeling that Trump’s endorsement of Paul Ryan and John McCain is a ruse. When he becomes president he will kick ARSE or shall I say BACKSTAB them.

Yes. I saw that and also saw your pings to me.
I hope Trump has good reason for this.

Mr. Trump did go ahead and endorse Ryan, McCain and Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire.

“We will have disagreements, but we will disagree as friends and never stop working together toward victory. And very importantly, toward real change,” Trump said, reading off notes. “So in our shared mission, to make America great again, I support and endorse our speaker of the House, Paul Ryan.”

“And while I’m at it, I hold in the highest esteem Sen. John McCain for his service to our country in uniform and in public office, and I fully support and endorse his re-election,” said Trump, who also endorsed Ayotte.”

I would like to think that Trump is playing nice with these RINOs until he’s sworn in.

That is, ‘I would like to think....”

I trust the Trump. He sent his message.

Oh I think he sent a message all right. If you watch the video he reads the endorsements of Ryan, McCain, and Ayotte off of a piece of paper. It's obviously not his words and he makes it clear that he's endorsing because he's expected to. The term "damned with faint praise" comes to mind.

Trump knows that Ryan, Ayotte, and McCain will not be allies for his administration. By endorsing the way he did he makes it clear that those three aren't fooling him and he doesn't want them to think otherwise.

I was probably one of the most hard core Trump supporters. I’m still voting for him 100%, but I’ve lost interest in him. I’m no longer excited about his candidacy, he’s already being “corrupted” by the game and hasn’t even taken up office. I wanted him to tear DC a new one, even if he lost it’s better to shatter the Republican party so badly as to form a new one than continue this charade ...
