An African-American woman was being harassed by a cop to the point she felt the need to call 911. This upset the cop, who then decided to arrest her. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
Newly released video disputes police claims about a black social workers violent arrest earlier this year while talking to a 911 dispatcher during a traffic stop in Houston.
A police officer pulled over Earledreka White in March for crossing the double white line, and she called 911 to ask for police backup because she was afraid of the officer who stopped her, reported the Houston Chronicle.
I would like another officer to come out here, she says to the dispatcher. My heart is racing. Im really afraid.
The 28-year-old White was placed in handcuffs and charged with resisting arrest during the encounter, and then jailed for two days where she feared she might end up dead like Sandra Bland, another black woman arrested in Texas following a routine traffic stop.
White said she remained calm throughout the encounter, and she has accused the officer of unnecessarily escalating the situation.*
You react.
You get outraged.
You comment.
You think.
Actually I meant to say “way to generalize.”
But....AUTOCORRECT.
Plus I was ticked that someone would lump all cops together like they are all bad or something.
Anyone who goes after cops is scum. If I misinterpreted what you said, I’ll gladly take it back.
Post #9 - Well said. It’s a good point that you made with few words.
BTW - Not ALL politicians are corrupt, power seeking egomaniacs. I just can’t point to any that don’t fit the stereo type anymore.
We are told that 99.9% of Muslims are peaceful and do not want to harm people, and that only 0.1% are dangerous. To which we respond why don’t the 99.9% denounce the 0.1%?
Shouldn’t this standard also apply to the police? Shouldn’t we expect the 99.9% that are good to denounce and remove the 0.1% that are not?
Does that make me a police hater for suggesting such a thing?
There are good cops out there but with a no good devil like that it makes one wonder. if he felt he needed to stop her on private property, which he did`nt, he could have acted like a man instead of a dammed asshole.
...so basically media shoots a foreign substance up the public's arse, hoping it pushes feces all the way to the brain...turning the subject into one if their own?
Simple word, yet articulate in it's accurate analysis of the situation ...well dung, sir!
***This reminds me of people who jump on threads about animal abuse and start talking about how much worse abortion is. Guess what? People can be 100% opposed to abortion **AND ALSO** be opposed to animal abuse.
Likewise, people can 100% support law enforcement **AND ALSO** despise law enforcement officers who abuse their power, lie about their behavior, and terrorize citizens.
Its not an either/or option.***
Thank you. Well stated.
Yes we have too many cops killed and if they keep on acting like 12 year old boys pretending to be gestopoes we will more than likely have more.
The cities and states need to hire mature men for the job insteadf of kids fresh out of college.
That is right, cops are Government and Government promotes more Government and more power.
I used to know some good cops but wonder where the heck they have gone.
Well, we'll see on this thread. I bet half the posters will attack "eurotwit" for what he said. You either think that all cops are heroes or you're an ass to a lot of FReepers.
Should be arrested simply for having the first name of Earledreka.
“Not enough, according to the resident cop haters.”
That’s as dishonest as calling illegal aliens ‘immigrants’.
Stop lying about those of us who are concerned about the overreach of todays cops.
The fact that you have to lie shows how little you have to work with.
Social workers are focus challenged. They are all over the road.
Arrest all social workers and put them in concentration camps. Okay that is extreme. But they will put us in camps, so better them before us.
Serious, crossing double lines is dangerous to others. No sympathy here. Some laws work.
Sounds like what Earl would do at the track... Earl'd wreck ya.
First, I was raised to respect police and authority, second my brother was a police officer until he was injured on the job, third my first roommate was a police officer.
As for cop hating, I agree that the attitude of the “new police” is one of us versus them and very little respect for the citizens of their community.
At one time I was the City Manager of a small city (26 sworn officers) and each morning he Chief would come into report the events that they dealt with the previous day or that may be on going. This was something that he chose to do and not by my asking. So one day I asked him why his officers never waved back to people on the street and that they would where their dark sunglasses and seem totally oblivious to their surroundings as they drove by in their patrol cars. I asked him to speak to them about being more approachable. Basically they just looked at him and continued to act as they chose. I didn’t take long to figure out that their main objective was more pay raises and more overtime.
modern cops? when was it ever not like that?
There are good cops and bad cops and in my opinion (having worked for a short time as a volunteer sheriff’s deputy and various other interactions) most of them are good.
There are people on this forum that want to irrationally lump all cops together just like there are more than a few that want to lump all blacks into a group.
She got cuffed. Meh. While it would appear the cop stupidly overreacted maybe he was in a bad neighborhood and a crowds was starting to form off camera and he wanted to close down the situation.
Or maybe he overreacted. Point is nobody on this forum knows - do they.
THAT I might agree with. lol.
Crossing a double line in a private parking lot is a serious offense to you?
Really?
