The plane I saw on television was the hostage plane in Geneva, Switzerland, not the plane carrying $400 million in cash going to Iran!
The question of what video Trump was referring to (which is one he saw) is independent of a question of what videos exist. Trump admits a mis-reference, he saw the Geneva video, and took it for a video shot in Iran.
I hope this does not diffuse his criticism. What Obama is saying is not credible. If the payment and the hostage negotiations were really separate, Obama is saying that we would have paid the money even if Iran had not released the hostages. No one has asked him that crucial question: Would you have paid the money to Iran if they were still keeping the hostages? The MSM will never ask that question because either answer embarrasses their hero, Obama.
But both videos confirm the cash-for-hostages scenario.
Non-story.
And we have yet to hear Hillary Clinton admit that she lied to the FBI. Matter of fact, she even stated as late as Wednesday that the FBI said she had been totally truthful.
And we still have the 0bama administration denying that the $400 MILLION was a ransom payment despite the fact that the release of the “prisoners” (actually hostages) was delayed until the arrival of the money.
It won't. There is independent evidence that release of the prisoners was contingent on receipt of the payment.
And to the category of "ransom" or "settlement of a debt," the administration would have you leap to a conclusion that a payment can't be both. If release of the prisoners was contingent on the payment, then the payment was ransom.
Kind of reminds me of work when they do yearly performance reviews. Your compensation package is not related to your performance review...
Trump trolls the msm and 0bama, keeping the story alive for at least the weekend, when folks talk to their neighbours about current events
Trump has now said that the video he was referring to was of a plane in Geneva, not a plane in Iran.
It's a narrow point, directed to an inconsequential claim made on the stump, by Trump. The fact remains that the US ransomed prisoners.
You’re right. Trump got the news out there another way lol.
Yes, they are avoiding the relevant question by answering a different question. The relevant question is "was payment (even if it is repayment of a 1979 debt) a condition for the release?" If the answer is yes, then a ransom was paid.
What was the original amount “sequestered” in 1979?
How did they determine “interest” on that amount?
Interesting it came up to a nice round $400 Million.
Its he truth of the fact that zer0 and his regime paid a ransom for Americans being held hostage. What plane was used for what is a leftist diversion. Trump did nothing wrong. Obama did. That’s the whole of it.
400 million. The payment made to Iran, on this dispute, was 1.7 billion, which the administration says is a great deal given that Iran sought 10 billion in a suit at the Hague.
And the Obama regime isn't denying that money changed hands. They're the only ones on the entire planet denying it was a ransom. The Russians said it was a ransom and the Iranians are saying it was a ransom.
What he shouldn’t have done was repeated the “top secret” video story last night, though, after his own campaign denied it a couple days ago. IMO.
Is this the same video the 24 hr News Networks were playing?
CNN was obsessing over that very non-issue. The underlying narrative was that Trump was either a liar, or careless, or making things up as a way to support his brash conclusion. They were making the mistake the story, and thereby diverting time from the "payment was in fact ransom" story.
I think so, yes. A video being shown on the networks is of a plane in Geneva. It's the same video that Trump saw, and misattributed to being in Iran.
