(CNN)Khizr Khan on Tuesday accused Donald Trump of dodging the Vietnam War draft, and said he shouldn't have accepted a Purple Heart given to him at a rally earlier in the day, deeming it the latest sign of his inability to empathize with parents of fallen soldiers.
"You dodged the draft," Khan, a Muslim whose son was slain in the Iraq War, said of Trump to CNN's Anderson Cooper. "Put that Purple Heart back on that person's chest."
A military veteran supporting Trump had gifted the Republican presidential nominee his Purple Heart, prompting Trump to say he "always wanted to get the Purple Heart" and this was "much easier" than serving in combat.

Suggest that Trump frame the medal and take it to every speech, set the frame beside him, and present the medal as a symbol of our soldiers and the VA issue.
Trump could indicate that while HE did not earned the medal, he will do everything he can to support our current and former soldiers.
I suggest that Trump frame the medal, carry it with him to every future speech, and place the framed medal beside the podium.
Trump can present the medal as a symbol of all of our soldiers and veterans. Trump can note that while HE did not earn the medal, he will do his best for our soldiers and our veterans.
Later he can return the medal, or if the medal becomes a significant part of this election, it can be displayed as part of the future Trump Presidential Library.
I don't recall anyone from the MSM questioning whether Obama deserved to be gifted that bracelet, or if he "earned" it.
Might not've been of the same magnitude as a Purple Heart, but it was still an "unearned" military gift, by the MSM's & Khan's definitions.
Khan is not mourning his son, he’s using his son to promote an agenda that has nothing to do with the circumstances of his son’s death and everything to do with Khan’s Islamic identity.
The only reason he had access to the DNC dais, and the only reason he took to the DNC dais, was to criticize Trump for stating that we need to vet persons from Islamic countries.
Khan had nothing to say about the circumstances which led to his son’s death and he would not have had access to the DNC dais if he did, it doesn’t serve their narrative regarding Trump.
His son’s death only provided a pretense for his attack on Trump. Telling Trump “you have sacrificed nothing and no one” Khan uses his son’s death as a shield from criticism.
Now Khan calls Trump a draft dodger and demands that Trump end his campaign.
This charade of Khan promoting an agenda by exploiting his son’s sacrifice is disgraceful.
If Khan has any decency he will end his attack on Trump - who has nothing whatsoever to do with the circumstances of his son’s death - and cease using his son’s death to promote his Islamic identity agenda.
He could say he did not earn this medal but considers it to be an honored “ loan” and a reminder of the trust our veterans place on their commander in chief and his obligation as commander in chief to honor that trust wth his own life as necessary
I have bought at least 40 PH’s from various Pawn Shops in Philadelphia. Pittsburgh and various places in FL, OH, and NY.I keep them to remember the sacrifice someone made to get it. Apparently heirs, friends and even the vet themselves don’t care about them. I do. Nobody EVER gave me one. If they did, I wouldn’t spit in his face for it. I was also given an equivalent of a Phillippine Bronze star for something I did while there by PC TSGT Alfredo Cabrera in 1971, who actually previously won it. If I’d have given that award back to him, it would have been spitting in his face.
This Khan-man has really gone too far now.

We do not have a draft for military members in this country now & we have NOT had such for a number of years.
YOUR son volunteered-—as have a great number of Americans in the past 30 +++ years. I thank him for his service -—but he VOLUNTEERED.
I did not have any children who were in the military.
There are THOUSANDS of Americans who did NOT have any children who were in the military.
Attacking ANYONE because they DID NOT LOSE A CHILD TO A MILITARY ACTION is just plain wrong. Trump isn’t the only American who ‘didn’t sacrifice’ a child to war.
Trump is NOT the only male in America who got a deferment. AT least he didn’t HIDE in Canada for years like so many did.
