I doubt you’ll get an answer. I have asked several of the hand-wringers this same question, and they ignore me like Obama ignoring the Constitution.
- The troll on the mom was funny to us, but goes over like a fart in church to ordinary swing voters. Best let your surrogates do that.
- Comparing Trump’s own hard work to the sacrifices made by the parents of children killed in war was dumb.
The real problem here is that Trump is engaging with this guy at all. It could have been dealt with in three sentences:
“I have the deepest sympathies for the Khans, and we should all applaud the heroic sacrifice of Capt. Khan. I agree that few people have made sacrifices as profound as their own. However, it is simply not true that the Constitution requires that we accept people from countries with close ties to terrorism, and I will not put the American people at risk by continuing to import people who hate us,” etc., etc.
Trump needs to grow up and get a thicker skin, and fast.
