I kind of sort of met Ronald Reagan. After he was President he spoke at a business conference at a country club where I was a bartender. m I was working inside that day while everyone else was working outside. We were having a major wind/rain storm so no one was inside and I got bored. I went into the ladies bridge rooms to pick up empties. Was in the last room which had a patio door that led to a side road when a limo pulled up, doors opened and men came rushing through the French door. One of them guided me up against a wall and I saw someone get out of a limo with a trench coat pulled up over their head. He walked in, lowered the trench coat, shook, raised his head and beamed a smile at me. He said...nice day, huh? And then they were gone.
It all happened really fast but afterwards I was surprised. Most people wouldn’t even have acknowledged me but he did.

I had a friend who was a retired CA Highway Patrol officer. He worked security in San Francisco when President Reagan was there. President Reagan wrote each security officer, who was there that day, a personal note thanking them for being there. My friend framed that note and kept it in his office until he died. He had nothing but the utmost respect for President Reagan as president and for being a genuinely kind and thoughtful man. Needless to say, the current low life isn’t worthy of licking Reagan’s shoes, just my opinion.
