I think it is because we are starting over. Before, at the beginning of the R-on-R contests, everything he said caused outrage and predictions of doom. Eventually, Republicans started to realize he is right.
Now, it's the GOP- to D contest. So we're back at the starting gate with the outrage at everything he says. He will overcomes.
