There's a construction site about a half-mile from my house.

All day long, I can hear the stupid beep-beep-beep from those crazy back-up beepers that Carter made them put on construction equipment.

Of course, they have to be loud in order to be heard above the din produced by three hundred horsepower Diesel engines.

So I've always wondered, what's the decibel rating of those crazy beepers, and is it above the safe sound-pressure level allowed for operation in close proximity to human beings. I mean, you can easily hear them for half a mile.

Can’t tell you that, but the guy who invented the damned things (Backup beepers) I met working on his house many years ago. His name was Chuck Viall. I doubt he’s still alive as he was elderly then. Great guy by the way. His wife was a knockout. I think she was Danish.
