I agree that it was a mistake, but I also knew that there would never be an endorsement after the nature of the campaign. People wonder how Cruz could avoid endorsing Trump. I wonder how he could have possibly endorsed Trump without looking looking like a jerk.

I think he probably should have just stayed away from the convention and the campaign.

Yep you don't come the convention, get on the stage at the podium and not endorse the
candidate the voters chose to represent them.

Cruz got his feeling hurt and he found out he wasn't continuing to glide into the
ruler of the world as his papa had told him was his future. I wonder if he can pull
himself up by his boots to win reelection in 18.

Easy. He doesn't have to praise Trump. He could say, "As a Constitutionalist, I know what our Supreme Court will look like in four years if Hillary is elected, and our Constitution will continue to be ignored. Donald Trump has put forth a superb list of potential Supreme Court nominees. I call on all of my fellow Republicans to vote for our nominee...." Cruz doesn't have to say he likes Trump. He can just emphasize their areas of agreement.

Wouldn't have been too hard - something like: "Donald Trump and I have had our differences, and won't always agree, but what we can all agree on is that we need to defeat Hillary as Job 1. We have a choice - Donald J. Trump or Crooked Hillary Clinton.....I'm sure not voting for Hillary - how about you?"
