I agree. I just don’t see the “leverage.” It may have been there, but not adequately explained by the author.
Article loses its focus and never explains the “leverage”.... maybe author thinks it’s obvious but no, it needs some sorting out. Is it that Obama brought Allen back because they held blackmail information over his head, so he could be controlled??? That may be what’s insinuated, but it ought to be spelled out.
