Like much of Latin America, I suspect many of the “Creoles” (Spanish-descended people) that still remain there have already gotten their children out. As these countries delve deeper into communism, the lighter-hued who ran them in the past are the first to flee - leaving behind darker, poorer, less-educated populations with hands outstretched to “white” countries. We’re watching the “Cubanization” of much of Latin America; Ecuador has used the US$ as currency for years now since they’ve veered leftwards. Sucres have joined Venezuelan Bolivares and Zimbabwean pounds (as well as French Francs, Italian Lira, Spanish Pesetas) as testaments to socialist ruin...
