Stay away from the Poop Deck.
Of course entrance is through the stern.
Article I, Section 9, Clause 8: No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States [emphasis added]: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.
Note that regardless that this ship-naming issue is a subtle example of the feds arguably exercising powers prohibited by the above clause, James Madison and Thomas Jefferson had warned about the corrupt feds unconstitutionally expanding their powers little by little.
I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments by those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations. James Madison, Speech at the Virginia Convention to ratify the Federal Constitution (1788-06-06)
To take a single step beyond the boundaries thus specially drawn around the powers of Congress, is to take possession of a boundless field of power, no longer susceptible of any definition. Thomas Jefferson, Jefferson's Opinion on the Constitutionality of a National Bank : 1791
The system of the General Government is to seize all doubtful ground. We must join in the scramble, or get nothing. Where first occupancy is to give right, he who lies still loses all. Thomas Jefferson to James Monroe, 1797.
Who’s going to swing the champaigne bottle? Bruce Jenner or Barney Frank????
It will be that pink submarine.
This is outrageous. Harvey Milk was a Rev. Jim Jones supporter. He has accomplished nothing positive, did nothing for the Navy or any other branch of the military. The one thing he did do is provide enabled Jones.
HURRY NOVEMBER!!!
Hopefully it’ll be an all fag crew. I think I’d jump ship before I ever served on a vessel named after that scumbag.
What next, the U.S.S. Liberace?
I could just spit!
I hate to say this. This is a ship that needs to have an encounter with a Kitchen or a Shipwreck.
It’ll be able to get the Navy through some tight spots.
.
Everyone will board this ship from the stern.
.
The day the Navy was allowed to name ships after John Stennis, Carl Vinson, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush, this was made inevitable.
This is one of those FR threads where when you see the headline you just can’t wait to scroll down to behold the creative hilarity to come.
Finish off the military - the country soon follows.
Who wants to be on that ship? Seriously.
