No, my “handle” is from my hometown in NJ, named for General Philip Kearny (a Union general killed at the Battle of Chantilly, Virginia) in the Civil War.

FWIW, Mexico was paid for those territories; they might not have wanted to sell, but they did - they weren’t seized outright.

Yes I’m well aware of the Treaty of Hildago where we purchased Calif territory for $ 25,000,000. The original price had been 30,000,000 before the Mexican War.
