Not a fan at all of the very dicey theology pushed by his books. And I must respectfully but strongly dissent from the word “prophet” as a descriptive. But I am sorry to hear of his passing. RIP and prayers for his family and loved ones.
TIM LAHAYE brought an awareness that THE END is near. The LEFT BEHIND series made theologians give REVELATIONS another look.
I got into it on Facebook once with a few who seemed to confuse Left Behind with scripture. If you get your theology from a work of fiction, then there’s no discussing anything with them.
Correct, the days of the prophets are long ago...
Matthew 11:13 For all the prophets and the Torah prophesied until John. 14 And if ye are willing to receive it, this is Elijah, that is to come.
Matthew 3:4 Now John himself was clothed in camels hair, with a leather belt around his waist; and his food was locusts and wild honey.
2 Kings 1:7 Then he said to them, What kind of man was it who came up to meet you and told you these words?
8 So they answered him, A hairy man wearing a leather belt around his waist.
And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.
Consider the source of the word “prophet” -
it was from ‘Charisma’ magazine -
where personal experience overrules the Word.
