I never thought I would ever entertain the thought that, of the open options, he (Trump) would be better for Europe and for Hungary.
"But I listened to the candidate and I must tell you he made three proposals to combat terrorism. And as a European I could have hardly articulated better what Europe needs."
Since Mr Orban came into power, President Obamas administration has criticised Hungary for alleged state corruption, failure to observe freedom of religion and not following the rule of law.

After Mr Trump said he wants to create the best intelligence-gathering organisation in the world, Mr Orban said he should create a network of national intelligence agencies.
He also said: The second thing, said this valiant American presidential candidate, is to abandon the policy of exporting democracy. I could not have said it more precisely.
"If we keep prioritising democracy over stability in regions where we are unlikely to succeed with that, we will create instability, not democracy."

The US will have some allies when Trump is elected. The anglosphere, as always, Hungary, Israel, Austria (after the election). There will be more.
Is Hungary paying the U.S. enough for protection? If not, why not?
Hooray for the Magyars!
Budapest is one of my favorite cities and few, if any, Islamists.
Everyone once in their lifetime must take an evening cruise on the Danube in Budapest.
Viktor Urban, one of Europe's great leaders. (There aren't many, so he's a standout!)
Oh REALLY?!?!
I did while sipping brandy! What a great vacation trip that was.
We also went to Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and it occurred to me, that maybe the Iron Curtain was a blessing in disguise, because at least those nations behind it didn’t get inundated with Muslims like Western Europe did. Poles and Hungarians had to do the “dirty jobs” under Communism, because there was no choice.
I never knew what a beautiful city Budapest was until I saw this MV filmed there featuring the lovely ladies of Davichi.

“Everyone once in their lifetime must take an evening cruise on the Danube in Budapest.”
I did just that, and it was a lovely boat ride on a lovely evening down the beautiful Blue Danube. All that was missing was Strauss music. I love Budapest. A great city, with great architecture. There are a lot of Art Nouveau buildings in the City, built and decorated with a Hungarian flare. Plus a lot of Roman ruins, inside the City and in the areas just outside of it. Great Hungarian food, or course. It is one City I would be happy to go back to.
The people were very friendly to our group. We were their novel objects. This was some years back that I went there, about 1988. It was still under Commie control, although Hungary was their showplace country, and it was less strictly controlled.
Chechloslovakia on the other hand, was a much more closely watched Commie pot. Loved Chechloslovakia too in spite of Commie troops scattered around Prague, keeping an eye on things. I have stories to tell about our group’s (a history group, classes followed by the trip to Europe to see that which we studied in class) experiences in what is now the Czech Republic. I’ll just say there were fascinating adventures, with a hint of danger, and lots of fun as well. Made for a most memorable visit that I will never forget.

What did you think of Krakow?
Now that is RICH; coming from this admin.!
I loved Krakow, of course being of Polish heritage, it really is the “Heart of Poland” so much history, and unlike Warsaw, it didn’t have to be rebuilt. Only now, Warsaw is beginning to return to some of its’ pre-war character, but there’s still a way to go.
You mean like...Canada? Only marginally above Hungary according to this thread (your own comments in there too):
But that's not what Trump has been saying. In his Meet the Press interview he didn't mention defense spending by NATO countries, he talked about how much the U.S. spends to defend them and how they need to pay the U.S. for doing that. Specifically:
"So all I'm saying is they have to pay. Now, a country gets invaded, they haven't paid, everyone says, "Oh, but we have a treaty." Well, they have a treaty too. They're supposed to be paying. We have countries within NATO that are taking advantage of us. With me, I believe they're going to pay. And when they pay, I'm a big believer in NATO.
But if they don't pay, we don't have, you know, Chuck, this isn't 40 years ago. This isn't 50 years ago. It's not 30 years ago. We're a different country today. We're much weaker, our military is depleted, we owe tremendous amounts of money. We have to be reimbursed. We can no longer be the stupid country.
Now we in Canada don't see any reason why the U.S. should have to come riding to our rescue any time soon so I don't think we'll be needing to invoke Article V. But Hungary is right up next to the Russian bear. If Putin gets frisky and Orbán expects the U.S. to honor NATO commitments then he'd better cut a check.
