No major hurricane has made landfall in the continental United States for a record-breaking 129 months, according to data going back to 1851 compiled by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

The last major hurricane to make landfall on the continental United States was Hurricane Wilma, which slammed into Florida on Oct. 24, 2005--129 months ago.

The 2016 hurricane season--which officially opened on June 1 and ends on November 30--is expected to be “near normal”, with more hurricane activity than last year’s “below normal” season.

Wait a minute! I thought ‘climate change’ meant we were supposed to have MORE hurricanes? Have they flip-flopped that? “Now, because of climate change, we will have LESS hurricanes; as you know, hurricanes are vitally important to keep water and whatnot in places...it’s going to be a disaster if we don’t cut down on climate change, so we can again have hurricanes”...that oughta play real well.

Honestly, I think God (the ultimate weatherman) has such fun with these lefties. He freezes in the global warming “researchers” in the Arctic so they can’t even move while they’re up there to see the glaciers thawing at breakneck speed, then He settles the hurricanes down immediately after the lefties tell us to run for cover. Such a sense of humour.

OTOH, maybe when Hussein caused the oceans to recede, he settled the winds at the same time.

I got it. Because the lyin’ king’s war on weather is working so well, there have been no major hurricanes in the last 129 months. Just add that to his YUGE and growing list of accomplishments. What a dude huh? We’re apparently safer, smarter, wealthier, less stressed, less unemployed, more peaceful globally and just all around fabtastic over the last 8 years. Or not.

About five years ago the U of Colorado gave up predicting massive hurricanes due to global warming.

Seeing as almost every time they forecast hurricane activity, they are wrong, if I lived in that area, I'd be making preparations now for a rough season.

All they need to be really hurt is two strong ones in a row.

But, but after Katrina and Rita, the NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC magazine assured us we should get ready for lots of massive superstorms!

GLOBAL WARMING has been cemented in their numb skulls. They don’t know how to read and don’t watch the news.

"How about Hurricane Sandy"

How about the hurricanes in the Pacific? Or, in the southern hemisphere where they are called cyclones.

Where I am in the SE has been pretty warm this summer - in contrast with 3 or 4 fairly cool past summers.

More heat = more likely to have hurricanes. My opinion only.

Note, that I didn't attribute the heat to Global Warming, or Cooling, or whatever. It's July in NC, and it's hot. Imagine that.

Warm water and the absence of wind shear means hurricanes. Wind shear is a very important factor.
