In reality the lone gunman had taken himself to a secluded side road and shot himself dead.
Unless he had a moment of clarity and ended his life because of what he had just done, making it to a secluded street and putting a bullet into his own head makes no sense [to me].
I cannot even think like a homicidal maniac. I cannot even try to get inside his brain. If he was going to kill himself, it would make sense to do it when he was backed into a corner instead of when there was still any chance of escape.

Body found 10:38 pm.
It does not sound as if he was backed into a corner.
It does leave open the possibility he did not act alone and perhaps his accomplice killed him. Not saying it is probable-just possible. If the bullet in his head did not come from his gun, will we ever know? Probably not.
The story is fading from the headlines. It goes farther down the web pages. Clinton/Kaine is the big news today.
1:25 am public transportation resumes.
