True, but something seems amiss with Ailes. These are not accusations one throws around lightly.
I don't watch Fox News, or Fox anything. Roger Ailes and the troubles at Fox mean nothing to me.
I know he was instrumental in standing up the Rush Limbaugh show as a national platform back in the late 1980s. That doesn't necessarily mean anything about his political leanings.
A lot of times these high-achiever types go off the rails. Remember Marv Albert. I'm sure there have been others, but I can't bring them to mind.
Then again, a whole bunch of them are marginally "off the rails" and stay on the saddle. The executives know that someone who is just barely sane can pull in the ratings.
Look at Keith Olbermann, Rosie O'Donnell, Melissa Harris-Perry, Geraldo Riviera, Joy Behar, Roseanne Barr, Andy Kaufmann, Robin Williams... the list is long, those are just the ones I can name off the top of my head. Most of them would have been committed for their own safety in another age.
