One problem that Cruz and Levin and Rush have is their utter mathematical incompetence. I call them all RushTards because they get it from him, operating from a "conservative" faith sans any situational awareness.
1976 or 1980 can not be swapped with 2016 or 2012 or 2008 etc, under any circumstances. Rush and Mark would know this if they had any logical faculties. In 1976 the country was not yet suffering from demographic warfare ( indeed, Nixon had just previously won the 3rd greatest popular landslide in 1972 ).
The re-instituted slavery of the Great Society and the Ted Kennedy 1965 Immigration restart after decades of almost none was not yet felt at the ballot box. The first wave of welfare rats and 3rd world invader children were at most 10 years old.
Simultaneously the 26th Amendment, the 18-year old vote, had just come into action ( ironically pushed by Kennedy and jump-started by Nixon's mistake of supporting a temporary law doing the same. That fact marked on the calendar as 1984 for the earliest first arrival of demographic warfare on the ballot box. Indeed, every election since has seen an exponentially increasing built-in base for the (D)ummycrats. It is the very reason that their repulsive kooks like Kucinich, Kerry, Gore, Sanders and Hillary even run for President. Any (D) can win this thing, but almost no (R) has a mathematical chance.
Saying that "Reagan won and he was a conservative" has no merit and no scientific weight. Cruzlims never even let the most basic facts enter their brain ( see RedState or RightPoop ), they have their "faith" and will never allow facts to enter the calculation. Even if you choose to believe that the Founders would let a foreign-born person from the King/Queen's Canada become President ( really? as if ), the fact remains that the church of Rush/Levin/Cruz could never bring themselves to face the fact that they had no chance in the general election. Cruz would wind up at the same or less result as McCain simply due to demographics.
His only chance was to fly in under the radar using stealth mode, but his preaching got the better of him and he managed to alienate just about everybody. I still ask CruzTards a simple question. Just who was going to vote for him in the general election who hasn't already voted for him? And, did he really believe the Trump supporters would flock to him if he had stolen the nomination in the smokey back room?
He was always going to sell us out on Trade, Borders and Immigration, but now we have the biggest issue of all - Scalia's seat on the court. There is simply no excuse for what Cruz did tonight. He didn't even mention the crisis we face here. If that seat goes to a liberal it is all over. 2nd Amendment goodbye followed by civil war. But Saint Ted still has other things on his mind. The CruzTard, RushTard and LevinTard articles of faith - doctrinaire conservative checklists or nothing.
