It seems CNN's version of the amateur video taken by a storekeeper is different from how it appears at other sites, including CBS and the Young Turks.
In the CNN version, the first gunshot sounds - a series of three - come earlier.
This can readily be observed because the point when the three gunshots conclude doesn't match up visually.
In the CBS and YT versions, the gunshots conclude just as the camera image blurs and the officer on top of Sterling rolls off of him.
In the CNN version, the three gunshots conclude while the struggle is still going on between Sterling and that officer on top of him, and neither Sterling, the second officer nor the shopkeeper filming the incident even seem to react to these gunshots.
The alteration does make it seem more like there was no real struggle going on when Sterling was initially shot.
Here are links to the videos. Compare what is happening in them at the conclusion of the first three gunshots.
(See also The Young Turks - begin at 3:54 mark)
There seems to be no other conclusion than that the video appearing on CNN was knowingly altered from the original.
I would not put it past doing this CNN to gin up violence to increase rating.
I saw him trying to reach into his pocket and then at the :58 mark the cop removed a pistol from his pocket.
They just wanted to give the audience more time to contemplate the shots. No intention to deceive. /s
Well, NBC altered the audio in the Travyon Martin case to help Black Lies Matter, so why not CNN altering a video?
Should result in a prison term. Wrong, wrong, wrong.
NBC also altered the video in the Trayvon Martin case to whiten George Zimmerman’s face AND remove footage showing him bleeding from a head wound
sounds to me like they are trying to gin up more hate.
And from studying the video again to see if it was altered, I noticed that it seems like Sterling had possibly grabbed onto the arm, or even the gun, of the officer on top of him.
The officer seems to be trying to wrench his arm away from Sterling but is having trouble doing so.
Yet they are blowing up the Melania Trump “plagiarism” out of all proportion.
And that in comparison to how they have covered up so much for the Clintons, always believing them to be ethically above reproach, no matter what they do. They weren’t even suspicious about Clinton meeting the Attorney General on the tarmac.
I do not think they believe the Clintons are ethically above reproach; I just think CNN/MSM do not care about the ethics of the Clintons, and have no interest in “investigating” anything the Clintons have said or done. JMHO
This is another comparison photo showing what appears in the video when the three shots conclude. I stopped the player when I head the third shot. The stills are from CNN, CBS, and the Young Turks.
That’s the case this reminded me of.
I would think their motive would more be along the lines of to serve the political narrative.
Sure. And to make the timing of the shots more truthful. /s
CNN committing an egregious journalist crime...... So what else is new?
Do you remember the controversy when a Time photographer removed an antenna from the photograph of the Olympic runner Mary Decker, because it seemed to jut out of her chin?
And the controversy over National Geographic slightly moving one of the Egyptian pyramids to make it fit better on its cover?
Yet - THIS! The apparent editing of the audio in a most serious case, with dire consequences.
I don’t understand what people are learning in “journalism school.” It certainly isn’t ethics. This is treachery.
On twitter, we are banning CNN; MSNBC; FNC....
They are famous for lies about everything...
Check it out...google MSNBC lies...and have fun reading...
