Duh. Trump’s the nominee. I don’t think anybody but a few crazy people think otherwise. Ken Cuccinelli, Guy Short and Morton Blackwell (who lead the rules fight) are not crazy people. In fact, Cuccinelli has endorsed Trump and the other two may have also.
So the rules dispute wasn’t about Trump or Cruz or Kasich. (Trump was going to be the nominee no matter how the rules vote came out and no serious person thinks otherwise.) The vote was about how much power the RNC has to change the rules on its own without the consent of the members of the party. Go read rule 12 and you’ll see what I mean.
After the non-vote, the answer under Rule 12 is: “the RNC may change the rules (for primaries, conventions, whatever) whenever it wants and does not have to consult the voters.” Why Trump bought into this rigging of the system by RNC rules, I do not understand. It’s contrary to everything he campaigned on. I suspect he was poorly advised by people he trusts who don’t really have his interest at heart but rather the RNC’s.

It was set up to benefit an intra-party challenge in 2020. They are already planning on challenging Trump for the nomination in 2020 BECAUSE THEY KNOW HE IS GOING TO WIN AND BE A SITTING PRESIDENT!
If they thought he was going to lose, they would not have bothered because Trump would not run in 2020.
Add to that, the extra benefit of throwing out the bound-delegates this year and inserting Cruz or Jeb!, which was the original goal.
This is all about the Bush Dynasty, and the people have been very clear they want no more Bushies or anybody stained with them in the party.
Maybe ya missed it, but the election process is going to change. It’s corrupt to the core. The rules are too easily manipulated, twisted and bent. Were you not paying attention in the primaries? Come on. This includes these corrupt super PACs. This is no way to run a GD election.
