Trump Campaign Guts GOP’s anti-Russia Stance on Ukraine
Washington Post ^ | 7/18/16 | Josh Rogin

Posted on 07/18/2016 12:34:40 PM PDT by cassiusking

The Trump campaign worked behind the scenes last week to make sure the new Republican platform won’t call for giving weapons to Ukraine to fight Russian and rebel forces, contradicting the view of almost all Republican foreign policy leaders in Washington.

I originally thought you were ignorant. Now I see that you are being intentionally stupid.

Putin:
“I was not, as you know, a party member by necessity. I liked Communist and socialist ideas very much and I like them still.”

Putin is a collectivist and elitist totalitarian. He murders his opposition and critics while robbing his own country, at the expense of his people, to the tune of $200 billion. And you see this thug as an ally of this great country....and someone who can be trusted? That's as twisted as it is pathetic.

Anyone who sees Islam as a religion of peace is an idiot, as is anyone who thinks Putin has forsaken his collectivist ideology.

You are willfully obtuse. Putin has repudiated communism, and indeed warned the world to avoid statist economies.

Only a neocon could so determinedly repeat the stupid comment that he is a communist.

But then, we are rotten with neocon agitators.

“The KGB under Putin destroyed churches and murdered an untold number of Christians.”

Who?

When?

Where?

What is the quantum of “untold numbers”?

Robert Conquest could answer questions like these.

Agreed on all points, and noticed the queer rage from Obama and the obamacons ramped up at the Sochi olympics.

We need to be friends with Russia. Our peoples have much in common. Both Putin and Trump seem to want to talk and they should. No question. Better Russia a friend than enemy. It’s better for both of us. And the Putin and the Russians know full well they won’t be dealing with do nothing lifer politicians. They understand this won’t be business as usual.

Putin has repudiated communism

Putin said this in January. In the same speech, he also said that his attitude to Communist ideas has never wavered and that to this day he keeps his party membership ticket at home.

But you want to believe that he has repudiated Communism, when publicly claiming the exact opposite, while murdering journalists critical of him and jailing or killing those who oppose him? Never mind the $200 billion he has stolen from his people. Yeah, he isn't a totalitarian thug, he's just misunderstood. And I'm obtuse? Maybe, like George Bush, you've looked into Putin's eyes and found him very straight-forward and trustworthy. Isn't this is how neocons see things?

Lenin spoke of useful idiots a long time ago and what he said was true. It appears that they are still with us today, and continue to support this depraved ideology.

You have no understanding of the Russian Orthodox church or it’s role in supporting the Communist Party and helping the KGB find dissidents to torture and murder. Any religion that is not Russian Orthodox is/has been persecuted. The Russian Orthodox church is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Russian government. 90% of Russians claim to be members of this church while only 10% admit to attending church. Forcing adherence to the state is what commies do best. You can ignore the facts all you want, but your buddy Putin is still a commie.

Countries don’t have friendships, they have interests. We share an interest with Russia in stopping Islamic jihad and we should partner with them whenever and wherever we can to wipe it out. Beyond that, I see very little in common with Putin’s Russia, especially when you accept the fact that he dreams of recreating the Soviet empire.

“Putin is still a commie.”

Neocons still lie and lust for wars that other people will fight.

Your day is done.

Russia is not arming ISIS - your buddy Obama was till recently with his fellow Islamist, Erdokan.

So Trump is going to continue the legacy of Hillary and Obama with the Reset Strategy of giving Putin "another chance"?

Actually, Hillary's position on Russia is identical to that of the neoconservatives: sending US arms and troops to back Syrian rebels, and shooting down Russian planes in Syria in order to protect rebel strongholds. You seem to be in agreement with them, and with Hillary.

Obama and Hillary, like the McCain-Graham type GOPers (including the OP) want to arm the so-called "moderate" Syrian rebels. These "moderates" are Al Nusra front fighters, an Al Quaeda spin-off. This is what passes for moderation and democracy in the mind of liberal and neoconservative nation-builders.

So what do you say about Obama sacking General Breedlove because he wanted Ukraine to have anti tank missiles and Obama didn’t?

Hillary wanted to give/sell arms to Ukraine, Obama didn't.

Whether Crimea is Ukrainian or Russian doesn't matter one bit to me, so it's hard for me to get outraged over Obama not sending arms or troops to help return Crimea to Ukraine.

What does bother me is the fact that Hillary wanted US arms and troops to back the overthrow of another secular dictator on behalf of Islamist rebels, because obviously doing so worked out so well for Libya and Iraq.

You're right. The Russian secret police have never tortured or killed any dissidents and the Russian Orthodox Church represents real Christianity and has never been an arm of the KGB. If this were true, the free and independent Russian media would certainly have reported on it and the authorities would have brought them to justice. That's how the system works in Putin's Russia because he has come to Jesus and given up the ways of his past. Whatever you do, don't listen to Putin when he tells you otherwise. He's lying. Putin is a good Christian and cares deeply for the well being of his people....for all people.

That you could be so mercifully spared from the ravages of intelligence is mind-boggling.

Do you have any evidence that Breedlove was not independent and acting for Hillary?

That would be a bit strange as sending arms to Ukraine is a Republican position with 60% of the Republicans and only 39% of the Democrats supporting it.

You need to get ready for some needed changes. I welcome Russia as a friend. Better Russia a friend than enemy. Btw, if ya want to look for enemies, look at the Mexican leadership, China, the Saudis etc, etc.
