The Republican Industrial Complex Has Turned Missteps Into Millions [Consultant enrichment detailed]

Steve Jobs, the late co-founder of Apple, was famously criticized for his ability to convince others to believe anything he said through a combination of hyperbole and bravado. One Apple employee called the effect a “reality distortion field” in 1981 and the term persisted ever since.

It’s quite clear by now that conservative philanthropists and grassroots donors have been living in a reality distortion field as well, the creation of a cadre of political consultants who have failed repeatedly at their jobs and yet manage not only to survive but thrive.

The ineffectiveness of television advertising and junk mail at actually changing people’s minds have been known for some time in academia and yet if I had to wager, I would bet that most conservative donors, small or large, have never even heard of any of the studies which have proven this.

The sad reality of conservative and libertarian politics is that the generous people who donate their hard-earned cash have been fleeced for years by greedy, incompetent people who have manipulated the system to profit regardless of whether Americans are being persuaded.

Instead of seeing the failure and demanding changes, center-Right donors have instead been offered false theories that (depending on who is listening) “the Establishment” or “the far Right” are responsible instead of the leaders who could not deliver. The truth is that all wings of the conservative movement share the blame.

So the subtext of this idiotic article is that only Republicans own businesses.

If you don’t believe this is true, I direct you to the Trump Campaign, where they are frugal, but effective. Trump is moving away up the line, leaving Hillary behind despite the fact that she’s outspent him 10 to 1 thus far. So-called “Political Consultants,” are going the way of the Dodo bird, and one of their beneficiaries, the Media are going to find it slim pickins if candidates figure out that they don’t need a blllion dollars to win.

Failed? Sounds like they’re succeeding on a grand scale.

Interesting article. We in our County had the big guys from a national group come in to our GOP party leaders and explain how they would provide all this great voter info with THEIR system. Nope...didn’t buy it...been there done that. This article talks about all the GOP Consultants and their failures...and yet they continue to be called upon by top GOP . THAT party is nowover, and why TRUMP will win.

Trump has tapped into a mood that transcends media blather and conventional thinking. He’s circumventing everything tradional to the extent that even polling will prove unreliable. My ardent hope is that he may even draw out support that has been dormant for years.

make that CONGRESSIONAL military industrial complex...as it was in the original speech for Ike...later “edited” out prior to Ike being turned loose to give his pc version!

May be online somewhere still...saw it on my own blog/sites a few years ago, but very few and far between otherwise now, I s’pose ....

Did your read it? It is extremely pro-capitalist and anti-corporatist, the archenemy of capitalism.

The author focused on the moderate establishment types. But the same is true of the anti-establisment types who run Cruz, Carson, Paul campaigns.

The biggest asset of true conservative candidates is their dedicated fans. But the paid consultants fear that they cannot control volunteers. So dont involve volunteers in the campaign. The Cruz campaign is the worst run of the recent campaigns. Jeff should never be allowed in politics again.
