As previously noted, Iran's people are largely young, progressive in their ideologies, and unsympathetic to the myopic religious extremism of their government. Their open-armed embrace of modern technology has equipped them with powerful tools, which arguably caught even their brutal regime off guard with the advent of the hugely popular Green Movement and its successful use of social media and other 21st-century communications technologies. Such advances should continue to be encouraged as the strongest and surest means of enabling Iran's people to share ideas, discuss their place in the world, and ultimately of their own will and accord decide that it is time to sweep away the repressive regime under which they currently suffer.

No
There future lies with China now.
Like making friends with a rattlesnake, IMO.
No.
They are no longer Persians.
Send Jimmy Carter over there to discuss the subject. I’m sure they’ll give him a warm welcome.
I don’t know if they are too far gone now, but I do know that many young Iranians do not like their Islamic government. We did nothing to support them when they tried to rise up, but then again that has been our pattern so only an idiot would trust us now.
not a chance, until such time as Iran purges its dangerous IslamoNazi BS and threats to USA and other countries
Sure, we can be great allies.
All we have to do is all convert to devout shia fundamentalist islam.
Very difficult. According to research I’ve been doing Islam is the religion of 99.4% of Iranians. 90-95% of Iranians are Shi’a and 5-10% are Sunni. Most Sunnis in Iran are Kurds, Larestani people (from Larestan), Turkomen, and Baluchs, living in the northwest, northeast, south, and southeast. We have in the past been supporting the Kurds. But as you can see, they are greatly outnumbered, so our efforts are well short of support by the more popular belief in the region. Way more.

Sure:
1) Dump the ayatollah
2) End nuclear enrichment and pursuit of nuclear weapons, open all nuclear sites to outside inspectors
3) Hold free democratic elections
4) Form a secular government that embraces freedom of religion, but does not use religion as the basis for law
5) Allow full and free investment from outside entities
In other words, no.
Trust Muslims? Now that’s a difficult question. Let me get back to you.
Most freepers supported war with Iraq - ie starting war by invading Iraq - back in the day. It was a stupid decision by Bush, and many freepers now admit that and regret they cheered him on.
Please Don’t tell me freepers now support a war against Iran.
HELL NO this freeper does not support a war with Iran.
All I did was outline the steps necessary for Iran to become a trusted U.S. ally again.
I say as long as Islam is present, then no high level alliance is possible.
Neutron bombs away.
it was a sound decision by george w. bush. there was no conceivable plan for a global war on terror that didn’t involve saddam hussein.
but no one knew that the defective bastard that followed him was going to unwin the won war.
I swear, the “big lie” is even effecting conservatives that should know better.
I want what he’s on.....
Not unless they overthrow the Ayatollah.
Nope.
