> Real Coup

Last night’s “coup” was conducted by patsies. Fighter jets made a few low passes over Istanbul, troops blockaded bridges, an unoccupied parliament building was shelled, and a few tanks in the street. Enough to cast the image of a coup, but not much more. It was half-hearted and half-assed. Perhaps it was set in motion by Erdogan as a test.

That’s one theory.

Here’s another.

Erdogan’s hotel room was bombed, but Erdogan was not in it. Since the assassination attempt failed, half the military either abandoned the plot or held back to see which way the wind blew. Had that assassination been successful then the coup would have been successful.

Either way there will be a purge.

From 2015:

Followers Of A Mysterious Turkish Islamic Cleric Have Donated Heavily To Hillary’s Campaign And Family Charity
A former president of the Gulen-linked Turkish Cultural Center, Ozkan gave between $500,001 and $1,000,000 to the Clinton Foundation in recent months, the charity’s website shows. He also served as a national finance co-chair last year for a pro-Clinton political action committee called Ready PAC.

and
Gulenists’ contributions to congressional campaigns have been known for some time, as Buzzfeed reported last year. Texas Reps. Sheila Jackson-Lee and Henry Cuellar, both Democrats, are among the biggest benefactors of Gulen contributions.

and
USA Today reported last month that the House ethics committee has investigated more than 200 trips taken by members of Congress since 2008 that were secretly funded by Gulen groups.

and
Some of the Gulenist campaign donations may have been illegal as well, USA Today reported on Friday. The newspaper reported that New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte, a Republican, returned $43,100 in donations she received from 19 Turkish donors with ties to Gulen that she received on April 30, 2014.

Since Turkey is a member of NATO, if Turkey declares war against the U.S., will the rest of the NATO members have to go to war against US?

Why bother? NATO is already at war with American Culture, American values, the US Constitution, and the American people.

Like I’ve been saying. Never mind removing our missiles from Turkey as quid pro quo during the Cuban Missile Crisis. JFK should have just let the Soviets have the whole country.

The bottom line seems to be that the coup leaders probably were no more secular, westernized, or anti-Islamist than Ergodan. This isn’t a case of Al Sisi rising up against the Muslim brotherhood, it’s more like a conflict over who gets to control a country and government that’s moving in a Muslim brotherhood direction either way.

That's because the coup leaders were working FOR Erdogan.

It's either that or they staged the most incompetent attempt at a coup ever executed. Don't most coup leaders at least try to capture/arrest the leaders they're trying to overthrow?
