There wasn’t a NeverReagan movement.
Not in so many words, but the GOP establishment didn’t like Reagan against whom, like Trump, there was a lot of opposition and for similar reasons. Reagan picked Bush who called Reagan’s ideas “the vision thing” (Bush of course was clueless) to ensure victory in 1980, but actually Reagan but didn’t need Bush to win. IMO it was Reagan’s biggest mistake because Bush short circuited the freedom movement and any kind of continuance of effort to get government back onto a constitutional track.
We might be seeing something similar here with Trump and Pence, I don’t know, but I do know that whoever walks into the WH in 2024 is a key to the continuance of what Trump is starting here.
