Some doofus customer is promoting this (by using the name black lives matters for his order so that this will be called out when the order is ready). Corporate Starbucks isnt promoting this.
This thread should be taken down. On a site where hardly anyone reads the article before commenting, the headline leads us to believe Starbucks is doing this. It is partly the publishers fault for printing a misleading headline, but lets not be a party to deception.
Guys, did any of you read the article. This is NOT an official Starbucks directive. Its the customers giving the group name as their name.
Now why should anyone read the article when they can just jump to conclusions that this is a Starbucks corporate directive rather than a few a-hole customers with an agenda of their own, or even advocate that cups of scalding hot coffee should be thrown at the baristas head even though they are not doing anything wrong if that is the name the customer gives them. Hey if I tell the Baristsa that my name is Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton or Queen Elizabeth, they may look at me strangely but probably do not care. They are just trying to make a living. Never worked as a Barista but I have worked in retail. And some customers are complete a$$wholes and some have been downright scary. You just try to do your job, be polite to everyone and go home at the end of your shift and collect a paycheck at the end of the week.
I’d like to know what Starbucks does to get such agreeable, sincerely friendly employees. In New York, this is so refreshing. They either interview well or they educate them well. The very, very few who get by the process with a little bit of a chip on their shoulder are soon fired. It’s a pleasure, Starbucks.
This time, however, its customers not the company that are encouraging baristas to get involved.
THAT’S WHAT THE ARTICLE SAID, OK?
