He received an honorable because he was black. This double standard has existed for over thirty years. The USAF allowed blacks to get away with ten times more undesirable activity than whites because of this double standard. White privilege my butt!

The soft bigotry of lowered expectations...

I’m sure it was felt that anything but an honorable discharge would hinder him in the future, so it had to be an honorable discharge. Just an extension of the policies that give illiterate blacks high school diplomas.

White privilege / black pass

The insidious racism of low expectations.

He received a PLEA DEAL...quite common occurrence whether it’s Military of Civilian. Plea Bargain the crime down, do less time. Or in this case an honorable discharge instead of dishonorable for multiple counts of sexual harassment. Race more than likely was a factor. He did more than steal ‘panties’ a juvenile college Frat prank.

True.

It’s a lot less paperwork to just deny the reenlistment than it is to go through all the problems of documenting required to court martial someone.

I had a black woman who worked for me that was a nightmare. Three different supervisors tried to get rid of her over a period of three years. We had a file 3 inches thick of write ups on her. Every time we tried to do something about her failure to repair, AWOL, or many other problems, she would complain to the IG, the EEOC, the NAACP, and her Congressman. We finally just denied her reenlistment and she was forced out.
