“Duncan Hunter Jr. was the second congressman to come out and support Trump. Perfect fit—Veteran, Congress since 2003 solid conservative and a chip off the old block. BTW he is young too.”

I agree.

Being a vet, this will reinforce/confirm Trump’s commitment to vets - and that is a LARGE group, esp. when considering that they have family.

Being a Congressman for the last 13 years is a major plus, and fits the bill that Trump himself laid out a while ago - an insider who could help move legislation. BTW, this would further confirm that Trump does NOT intend to legislate, but leave that up to Congress.

His youth is also important - Trump is a long-term thinker, and he’d be foolish to be a flash-in-the-pan in terms of turning around this country. That was Reagan’s greatest failing - letting the Bush/GOPe people keep their slimy boogerhooks in the very center of power.

Hunter also doesn’t appear to have too many enemies, while still being firm in his views. This balances of Trump’s aggressive personality, and also reinforces that Trump really is a lot more conservative than he’s being given credit for.

Finally, Hunter would take the wind right out of the sails of the #NT/Republicans for Hillary crowd. Not that the nomination is in danger (it isn’t any more, especially after that ruling yesterday), but it will help to move a lot of die-hard conservatives who are in an “I’m not voting for this guy” mood over to the view that while Trump isn’t perfect, his right-hand man will be very conservative, and also have a leg up on getting the nomination after Trump leaves.

I like the idea a LOT. I also like Newt a LOT, though he is a bit much of a self-promoter for my taste. He is brilliant, knows history and foreign policy very well, knows EXACTLY who the Clintons are, and will steer Trump in the right (and the correct) direction. He’s absolutely perfect for the Valerie Jarrett office - behind the scenes, steering and informing a lot to aid the President, but not a public face.

Christie? I’m from Jersey (before escaping under the wire to Texas, Free America - and I don’t trust the SOB as far as I can throw him. He is anti-gun, and that will cost a LOT of votes down South and out West. Let him be AG, and sic him on the Clinton and Obama crime families.

Pence? Sorry, I’ll need a gallon of Rock Star to stay awake while he speaks. Let him be Secretary of Commerce or something of that sort, but not Veep. He’s a bit too Establishment to be Trump’s natural successor.

Thanks for that post.
Nice to read well-reasoned opinions.
Hope it’s Hunter, too.
