One would have expected some of the east coast cities to have reported activity, by now.
I don't pretend to know every version, but I saw a few different versions of the story. In each of them, everything was supposed to start at the same synchronized time across all four time zones involved (7 p.m. EDT, 4 p.m. PDT--not 7 P.M. EDT, 7 p.m. PDT).
The same pattern appears in the first post in this thread, where the times given mostly match this idea. (I could find exceptions only for Phoenix and "Tuscon," and they exist simply because most of Arizona, including those two cities, doesn't observe DST.)
