So you’re saying when they are protecting politicians, the police can profile away, but when they are only protecting us peons, they have to tie one hand behind their back for the sake of “fairness”?

There are different rules of engagement for different, “law enforcement agencies”.
I would venture a guess that there are well over a dozen different Law Enforcement Organizations in and around Washington DC as well as a number of “Private Security Firms” that operate on the threat assessments provided to them by a number of US Intelligence Agencies.
The Public face of Law Enforcement is that “We Don’t Profile”.
The reality is that if you are an Arab male driving a box truck up 395 you will be stopped before you reach the city. I’ve seen this many many times.
