Somebody feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems to me delegates are now beside the point. Trump IS the nominee. Only thing left is him announcing his VP. He could do this at a news conference, the convention could be cancelled along with the planned violence, etc.

Common sense. At this point the convention is just razzle dazzle without purpose.

It seems that what the court did was eliminate (for this Carol Cornell dude/dudette ONLY) the provision in the VA law that applied criminal penalties if he voted against the statewide results.

The Court maintained that the convention rule still applies so he is bound by the statewide results. As the article at the link says, "This case is a PR stunt. Correll if successful, accomplishes nothing legally, Correll if unsuccessful loses nothing legally. This is a waste of the Court’s time, a waste of the SBE’s time, a waste of AG Herring’s time (da*n you for making me say something in defense of Herring), and an affront to Virginia’s primary voters."

Delegates have been beside the point for decades. They are mostly the equivalent of Shriner conventioneers looking for a party, with a few kooks and social climbers mixed in. Politicians go for the TV face time.

There’s a reason why so few people are willing to be national delegates to the point where would-be activists on FR have no clue how it all works. It’s like spending your vacation in Hollywood trying to get into the crowd scene of a movie.

It has been pointed out that individual delegates are not asked for their votes at all on the first ballot especially. A representative from each state announces the vote allocations based on that state’s rules.

Would be interesting to see if the cops stay out or home from any BLM demonstrations and let the protesters keep law and order by themselves. And then see the “results” !!!
