Another prominent Democrat has trashed Elie Wiesel — the Holocaust survivor, author, and Nobel Peace laureate who died on Saturday. Dorothy Reik, president of the Progressive Democrats of the Santa Monica Mountains and a member of the Los Angeles County Democratic Central Committee, wrote an email quoting a reference to Wiesel as a “Holocaust whore” and adding: “I had met people who made their livings from the holocaust [sic] but never to the extent that Wiesel did.”
Reik had been defending Max Blumenthal, the virulently anti-Israel writer and son of Hillary Clinton adviser Sid Blumenthal, who had tweeted: “Elie Wiesel is dead. He spent his last years inciting hatred, defending apartheid & palling around with fascists.” Earlier this week, Hillary Clinton’s campaign distanced itself from Blumenthal’s statements.
In her email, Reik also wrote:
Sadly I have to agree with Max Blumenthal. I hope that people on this list do not use this as an excuse to attack my friends and associates, most of whom probably do not agree with me. Why do I post this at all? Because I think it is the truth and so I am compelled to speak out so that we are wary of others who are honored as peacemakers but are not.

No need to imagine. Sometimes criticizing those in one's own tribe is necessary. As long as the criticism is accurate and fair. Conservative Catholics rip liberal Catholics all the time around here, including the (ultra-lib) Pope himself. Same goes for conservative / liberal Protestants.

I might be hearing a group of leftist Jews tomorrow night promoting a pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel film. They are called “Jewish Voices for Peace” (JVP), a hardcore amalgam of Marxists, self-hating Jews, and dupes.
Their stupidity knows no bounds, nor does their KAPO treason against Israel.
I was just reading a Marxist book on Hollywood and the Blacklist and there were a lot of anti-fascist people who fell for Communist propaganda just before and during WW2.
Some were Jewish; others Christians and a whole bunch of hard core Reds.
After the Hitler-Stalin Pact which led directly to the Katyn Forest massacre of Polish Reserve Army officers, a majority of whom were Jewish, and other Soviet betrayals of Jews the “liberated” from the Germans (and often sent to slave labor camps in Siberia or put into Jewish penal battalions and sent to the front literally unarmed), many American Jews woke up to the real nature of communism.
So did not and never did.
Today we he the younger, educated fools and KAPOS, including some rabbis from the Reform movement/Reconstructionist movement (led by a longtime Marxist Arthur Waskow, Institute for Policy Studies, Mayday protest 1971, etc). They disguise their leftism in flowery words about “justice” and stopping lands being stolen from the Palestinian people (whoever they are), but when it comes to condemning the systematic slaughter of Jewish/Israeli children in their beds and cars, it is literally crickets times.
A lot of us Jews learned early on that the communists were just as evil as the Nazis, and withstood the liberal bullshit about McCarthyism etc.
Fortunately I was able to know some of the early anti-communist Jewish intellectuals and labor leaders who fought the reds since the early 1900’s throughout the rest of the century (Isaac Don Levine, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist; Marx Lewis, labor leader of the Hatters Union; Abe Kalish, English professor; David Martin, Sen. Internal Security Subcommittee/RAF, Sen. Dodd’s aide; Herb Romerstein, once the youngest member of the CPUSA in the 40’s; Ben Mandel, former CPer turned anti-communist, SISS, etc, and others.
They lived through the deceptions of communism and the liberalism that covered for them, and spent their lives opposing and exposing the lies, deceptions, disinformation and treason that the Marxist left used.
This woman Reik is not just a fool, but an enemy of America, a hardcore anti-Semite, KAPO and tool of the Marxist Left.
Thankfully her hatred has been posted at FR for all to see. Her name will be spread among patriotic Jewish Americans so that they will be aware of her Marxist, anti-Semitic lunacies when she appears.
Now, for the Left, there is no “privileged sanctuary” anymore (thanks to Al Gore’s wonderful internet).
Californians should make large posters/signs that say, “Dorothy Reik, California Democrat KAPO”.
That would spark some reactions.
Given that God loves Israel above all others, and given that Satan hates Israel, and given that Democrats are Satan-loving evil, this makes total sense.

I think anyone who knows more than a few Jews cannot help but be impressed by their generosity and warmth, traits which seem to lead to a misplaced locality to the Democratic party. I have never met a conservative antisemite, but the disease seems to be endemic among liberals, and blacks in general. In fairness, a lot of blacks of my acquaintance are like you - and me - reflexively philosemitic.
My guess is that many Jews see embracing conservative principles as selfish, embracing socialism as altruistic. American conservatives are directly responsible for the survival of Israel, therefore siding with them would be selfish, or something like that.
But the Democrats will always have Dorothy Reik’s vote.
I cannot argue with him because he immediately took away my posting privileges when I disagreed with him! Many liberal Jews are damaged people, I think.

Unfortunately changing demographics, a woeful ignorance of history in general, and the Holocaust in particular is the new reality in the West. “Water’s World” is amusing but chilling. College students at “good universities” are so ignorant as to be dangerous. For them to imagine that entire families including helpless women, children and the aged were brutally murdered by people who were once thought to be civilized and cultured is simply beyond their comprehension. Obama was not elected and reelected in a political or cultural vacuum. Sincerely hope that the reflexively and tragically ignorant, misguided Jews you describe lose their influence with their fellow Jews and fellow Americans. Hope springs forth eternal. Yet the reality is that Israel gets to lose just once in the Mideast and unless the US is ready and willing to intervene, there will be another massive slaughter of Jewish women and children. The world is a cruel place and politically correct posturing does not make it safer.

Causes and agendas exist which individuals genuinely feel must receive publicity and attention. So the individuals commit themselves to the cause. Then while advancing the cause they need to eat. They need nice clothes to appear on TV. Some of these issue people end up promoting themselves more than the cause they allegedly seek to advance. Others of these individuals remain in the background and promote the issue more than themselves. Of these that remain in the background, some still enrich themselves while others live humbly.
It is no different than religious leaders, or leaders of charity hospitals. Some environmentalists are hypocrites and fly their private jets. Other environmentalists live consistent with their ideology.
If one person chooses to be a hypocrite, or a self-promoter rather than issue promoter; And another person chooses to live his ideology, .... Who are we to judge and tell a person to live his life the way we think it should be lived?
At the same time we can pick and choose whom to follow and whom to ignore.

I had an unlce in 3rd Army that liberated a death camp. In the late 1980’s after listening to liberal anti-Semitic nonsense about the Holocaust and their mockery of it he graphically told me, don’t let the Jew haters lie, the slaughter of Jews in the camps happened and it was a horrible sight to have seen. Don’t ever believe the denier’s, they are lying fools full of hate.

That’s why I am so strongly against Socialism. Fools that believe the people or the state have a duty or a right to oppress or murder its citizens or subjects deserve to be the only victims of that heinous belief.
