Texas law does not restrict the carrying of rifles or shotguns long guns except for:

• Racetracks (horses & greyhounds)
• Polling locations on election day
• Courthouses
• School premises
• Secured areas of airports (past the scanners)

  Penal code 46.03.

  But pre-schoolers are more familiar with the law than cops are, and carrying a rifle or shotgun anywhere will result in harassment regardless of what the law says.
