I’m not going to cast a blanket condemnation on all self-described “non-denominational” churches, but I have noticed a disturbing trend of previously branded churches shucking their names in the interest of offending fewer worldly visitors and attracting a larger customer base. Many Baptist churches are doing this, included the one across the street from me. During my one visit there, I saw why. It was run like a beatnik coffee house.
Because some folks think we should “turn the cheek” always.
Some folks think praying for enemies is also “weakness”.
Christians have become weak by normal standards, myself included. Just look at the Ecumenical nonsense being spilled from the pulpits of most preachers these days.
Osteen, Warren, Jakes, Dollar, and Long are leading congregations straight to hell.
Will do tks
What are you talking about?
Excellent question
I was making the point that the Apostle Paul didn’t back down from a defense of Christianity.
And why not? You’re missing a lot by not reading him.
We had this discussion last night in our Bible Study. One of our young moms mentioned that she worries about how to effectively teach her children “tolerance” and the Biblical stance on homosexuality. Here’s the sad part. Her husband is just finishing his divinity degree and planning to go into full-time ministry. We had a discussion about not treating certain types of sin as though they are somehow special or less sinful, just because of societal pressures. We also addressed the “born that way” issue.
My pleasure.
Politics is about values and how people will behave. The Bible is about values and how people should behave. A pulpit that doesn’t address current events regularly and the application of Biblical values to them is worthless. BTW, your characterization of what Adams had to say is inaccurate. Perhaps you should take a second look at the article.
Amen.
Thanks, and you are correct.
Very insightful. You’re a type of missionary. Bless you.
I doubled down at #36.
I’m fairly certain Adams has written as I have comprehended it. I don’t believe he wrote well what he probably believes about biblically based Christianity.
There is certainly a place for the discussion of politics when a pastor is using the bible as he should. However, there are many more passages about other topics, and they should also be addressed and in the frequency with which they appear in the bible.
The pulpit must be biblically honest with the bible.
The world needs, and for a long time has needed more Manly Jesus.
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth; I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Surfin’ the Galilee, Dude!
Most churches and most Christian’s no longer follow the bible. People see that they are no longer better than anyone else. They no longer even try to be Holy. They have compromised everything to point of being like the world.
The girl ministers are the worst.
What liberal state do you live in?
