Are they talking about a grenade?
Do the Dallas police commonly carry grenades around, especially since this was a fast moving situation?
And have the police ever used GRENADES against targets?
Not smoke grenades or flash bangs, but something that could be called a bomb?!!!

The story said the Police used a Bomb ROBOT!
Well, the Philadelphia police dropped a bomb from a state police helicopter in 1985 against MOVE and ended up burning up scores of homes.
From the Dallas Chief of Police:
“We saw no other option but to use our bomb robot and place a DEVICE on its extension for it to DETONATE where the suspect was. Other options would have exposed our officers to great danger,” Brown said. “He seemed lucid during negotiations.”
So, yes they used an explosive device of some kind to disable ( kill ) this perpetrator.
